Tehran is willing to reinitiate atomic negotiations with Washington as long as it is handled with "dignity" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has announced.

Abbas Araghchi declared only diplomacy was effective, and revealed new appeals had been made by mediators to resume discussions with the American leadership. He said Iran had zero undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran had not yet reached a point to allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit bombed nuclear sites for protective measures.

Navigating a Difficult Route

The foreign minister is navigating a difficult path since Iran aims to avoid be seen to be proceeding from a position of vulnerability, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had emerged more resilient in military terms and emotionally from the Israeli-US attack on its nuclear sites in June.

Subsequently, Western states employed their privilege to restore international penalties, but Iran maintains they have not had a significant effect.

Perfect Agreement Proposed

Iran's diplomats stated they felt they had reached a "perfect agreement" to the uranium processing matter in earlier negotiations, when it was decided an domestic cooperative with US participation could refine atomic fuel. Each party would have been able to declare success since home-based processing would have continued and the US could be assured that Iran's enrichment initiative was exclusively peaceful.
